SUMMER NEWS

By Lynne Boudreau

What fun we have each late fall creating the next summers’ programs. We imagine all of the joyful and exhilarating things we can do with students and plan on how to bring them into fruition.

Come early fall base camp slowly becomes quieter and quieter as the summer ends, the semester students leave for Ecuador and the school groups come and go. We have trickles of students throughout the winter months and are blessed with monthly visits from the local waldorf school children. Soon will begin the spring programs most of which travel off campus. By May we are craving the return of our summer students and the joy and laughter and life they bring to Kroka.

This summer we have added some exciting new programs welcoming to students both returning and new. First of all we are very happy about a new collaborative effort with our friends and neighbors at the Orchard School. We will be joining hands in offering our Introduction to Adventure Day Program sharing teachers, ideas and campuses.

We have created several programs which go a step further for those who have experience, either with us or elsewhere in climbing; Introduction to Rock Climbing II and for those wild boys; Wild Crafts for Boys II. Our forever loved Wilderness Adventures for Girls will still be offered, however, we have created a new program for girls, Wild Girls, that is a little longer in length and a next step for those who have been attending Wilderness Adventures for years or for all girls who are looking for a longer experience and a little more adventure activities. Instead of traveling north as we have done for so many years, the Climbers have decided to travel south to amazing cliffs in Mexico. And our latest building program, one which will teach the life long ancient art of timber framing, will also have a permanent lasting affect at Kroka as students help to build a section of Kroka’s new carriage shed/barn. And, of course, we continue to offer our favorite tried and true programs. Our complete schedule is below and our full brochure with registration can be found on our web site. Things are filling as you read this so don’t wait too long. Summer will be here before we know it. In the meantime, HAPPY SPRING!
