Kroka’s Board of Trustees is a
devoted group of individuals who meet monthly to support
the work of Kroka Expeditions. Each member works with
the monthly Board work, but also donates time to one or
more ongoing committees. Members include:
Katie Schwerin, Board Chair
Katie is the C.O.O. for the WS Badger Company in NH, and
has been on many weeklong Kroka trips with her class when
she taught at the Monadnock Waldorf School, before taking
a job at her family’s company. Katie volunteers
as a singing coach for the semester groups.
Tom Miller, Vice President
Tom is a fundraising and development officer at the Aloha
Foundation in Vermont. Tom became involved in Kroka last
year when his stepson, John, attended the 2008 Vermont
Semester Program. Joe Marks, Treasurer Joe is the president
of the Baudelaire Co in NH and currently serves on two
other Boards: Monadnock Waldorf School and Monadnock United
Way Joe is the former owner of Kroka’s property
in Marlow; NH, and lives across the street from Kroka.
He enjoys watching the land and buildings grow and evolve!
Marina Belenky, Member
Marina is a research scientist in the Chemistry Department
at Brandeis University. She is working on the Accreditation
Committee for Kroka, advising on the academic component
of the semester programs. Marina’s son, Paul, has
been at Kroka for 5 summers. He started as a student in
the white water program and worked as an intern for the
last two years. This year he will work as a junior teacher.
Hans Van Riel, Member
Hans teaches woodwork and physics at the Monadnock Waldorf
School in
Keene, NH. Hans went on one of Kroka’s two week
river class trips many 2 2009 Season years ago and has
been a committed supporter of the organization ever since.
He lives up the road in Marlow, and volunteers his time
working on the Building Committee, as well as volunteering
teaching, whenever there is an opportunity.
Hugh Landis, Member
Hugh is a veteran board member at Kroka, who has devoted
his time and energy to the school for almost ten years.
Three of Hugh’s children graduated from Kroka and
his twins Ezra and Owen work here as Climbing Specialists.
Kroka Co-founder Lynne Boudreau and
Semester Coordinator Lisl Hofer are also
members of the Board of Trustees. |
