The Vermont Semester Program is quickly approaching, and
all of us involved are filled with anticipation. We will launch
the program on January 3rd!
This program,
running throughout
the winter & spring
of 2004, includes a
300-mile ski traverse
of the Green
Mountains from the
Massachusetts to
Canadian borders,
and then a return
adventure by handmade
canoe back
home along the
Connecticut River. Along the way, we will work with local
craftspeople to sew, weld, and build many of our expedition
items, including our tent, wood stove, and canoes! The program
will also offer students a full semester’s worth of high
school credit, as we study the ecology and history of the land
we travel through. The general agreement amongst us all is
that we’re full of excitement, we can’t wait for the program to
begin…and we’re a little nervous! We are wondering, “Who
will we be after six months in the Vermont wilderness?”
We’re about to find out…
There are still spaces available, so if you’re interested in being a student,
please get in touch with us right away. And if you’d like
to receive our periodic email updates from the trail, please
let us know at darcykroka@webwerk.com!
