Semester Lead Teacher / Outdoor Educator

Kroka Expeditions, a Non Profit Earth Living Skills School, located in Marlow, NH is looking for an experienced outdoor educator to lead and teach in our unique semester programs as well as in the summer and school outreach programs. We are looking for an outstanding teacher with both wilderness and academic teaching background, who is capable of leading extended wilderness journeys by ski, canoe and on foot while teaching a fully integrated curriculum, which encompasses academics, traditional and indigenous skills and handwork, singing, leadership and life learning. Seasonal Outdoor Teachers and Guides

Kroka Expeditions, an Earth Living Skills School, located in Marlow, NH is looking for outstanding candidates to teach and guide in our unique programs.

Our season extends from Mid April to Mid October

Responsibilities: Lead groups of 10 – 15 highly motivated youth, ages 7 – 18 on unique wilderness journeys that combine travel by foot and canoe, white water paddling, climbing and caving with community living, indigenous and traditional skills and handwork, singing and farming. Programs range from one to two weeks and include custom journeys for Waldorf and other school groups and 20 summer camp programs.

We are looking for highly motivated and hardworking people, who will contribute to our program their special talent, enthusiasm and skills.

Compensation: Competitive salary based on skills and experience, room and board at Kroka village, professional training and opportunity to be part of visionary community. Potential for year round employment.

Apprenticeship Opportunities:

YEAR LONG APPRENTICESHIP - Filled for 2008
We are now accepting applications for a yearlong apprenticeship at Kroka.
Apprentice’s duties will include

  • Assisting on programs throughout the year, including fall trips Vermont, NH and Kentucky, Winter Trips on Kroka’s land and Quebec, Spring trips in VT, NH and Florida and summer programs
  • Helping with the farm
  • Assisting with all aspects of Kroka life, including equipment maintenance and repair, scouting for new programs, and all aspects of kroka office, such as marketing, customer service and program development.

This apprenticeship is an exciting learning and growing opportunity for an exceptional person, wishing to learn all aspects of operating an outdoor school, solidify their skills, and experience a full year of Kroka
Terms: One year, beginning September 1, 2008; $100 per week stipend; room and board; One day per week off, holidays off.

ECUADOR APPRENTICESHIP - Filled for 2008
We are looking for an apprentice to join our Ecuadorian team at Palugo farm for the summer.
This apprentice will live at Palugo and help Dammer family with all aspects of farm life.
In addition they will be able to participate in mountaineering and river programs offered by Nahual (our Ecuadorian sister school)
Terms: Starting in June (starting date negotiable) through end of August; Room and Board and incredible learning opportunities.

SEMESTER TEACHER ASSISTANT
We are now accepting applications for Semester teacher assistants for semester programs beginning in September of 2008 and January 2009. Duties include assisting teachers and director with all aspects of semester preparation, teaching and guiding.
Terms: Five to Seven Month assistantship; $120 - S150 per week stipend; Room and board.
